[opensuse-factory] RFC: switching perl-Wx from wxWidgets 2.8 to 3.0
Hi, due to lack of a dedicated opensuse-perl ML, I send this mail to factory. Currently perl-Wx wraps wxWidgets 2.8.12, while most other packages have switched to 3.0.2. As wx 2.8 pulls in gstreamer 0.10, it would be nice to upgrade to 3.0.2, which was recently patched to use GStreamer 1.0. Contrary to wxWidgets itself, perl-Wx can only be installed in one variant at a time (neither 2.8 and 3.0, nor any ABI variants). The only user of perl-Wx I am aware of is slic3r. I have tested slic3r with wxWidgets 3.0.2 noSTL and have not found any problems. perl-Wx currently only supports the noSTL variant. Even slic3r is not in Factory, but only in devel:languages:perl:slic3r. Open questions: 1. Are there any other users of perl-Wx in any other projects? 2. Prefer creating a complimentary perl-Wx-3_0-nostl package or just switch perl-Wx (and its prerequisite perl-Alien-Wx) from 2.8 to 3.0 noSTL? Currently Leap 42.2 and TW have wxWidgets-3_0-nostl, so these two can be switched. Yeah I guess having packages depend on 3.0_nostl is the lesser evil.. compared to having them depend on 2.8. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
