[opensuse-factory] glibc-locale is not installed by default
After installing current Factory (minimal text mode selection) I was presented with errors "cannot set locale en_US.UTF-8". glibc-locale was not installed indeed. Is it expected? It was not the case last time I tested installation, and definitely no on 12.2 where I also installed minimal text mode. -andrey -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, locale data is not mandatory for a minimal system to work. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Then installer should not set locale to a value that does not exist on a system. My complaint was not so much about missing locale, but that locale was set to en_US.UTF-8 that was *intentionally* not installed. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

That's basically the same as saying "UTF-8 is not mandatory for a minimal system to work". It is simply no more the case today. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

It's a bug and it's even a fixed one. Ludwig added glibc-locale to the minimal pattern, but the patterns package wasn't updated from git since then.
