Hi Greg,
you are right... in principle the opensource shall work.. though on my hardware ( Broadcom 4322 WLAN found (core revision 16) -- a mac book pro 7,1) last time I tried I had problems in getting proper signal. but if you tell me that people worked on the opensource one I am open to testing and giving it another chance...

Yes, please uninstall the wl driver, and everything it brought along, and try the in-kernel driver to see how well it works for you. good luck, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

As usual, you need to look at the output of dmesg. In addition, you should go to the openSUSE Forum for wireless and read the stickies. Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

got b43 loaded... a restart seemed to help... anyhow it took much less than me trying to understand... the behaviour is more or less the same as the one I got 1 year and a half ago (last time I tried this driver). I connect to a network that claims to have 40% strength... the speeds I get downloading from download.opensuse.org are around 30K-60K more towards 30K. after around 20-30 minutes... the strength of all networks decreases so much... that the one which was 40% before now is not available anymore in the list of scanned networks. sometime later the network appears back... connects to it... disconnects again... a total mess...
