Hi, I have noticed problems with usbv-devices too. First it was with my camera, wich didn 't show up. Now i have the same with my Bluetooth-dongle. When I ploug the dongle, nothing happens and dmesg shows the message: unable to enumerate USB device on port 4 First when i run lsusb the device shows up. The first lsusb looks so: Bus 006 Device 002: ID 0bda:8197 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187B Wireless Adapter Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub But dmesg shows now: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4 usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0a12, idProduct=0001 usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 usb 2-2: Product: BT2.0 and the second lsusb: Bus 006 Device 002: ID 0bda:8197 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8187B Wireless Adapter Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode) Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub I think this has something to do with the usb-bus recognition or hal-daemon. Should it be reported as bug? On Sat, 31 May 2008 12:27:29 +0200, TooMany Secrets <toomany@toomany.net> wrote:
Hi!
Yesterday evening I made an upgrade of my opensuse 11 beta 3 (I suppose that now would be a RC1). But I continue having a problem with one external usb hard drive:

No mount, no device, no "nothing"... This is all log about connect the device into my system.
With beta 1 and 2, only sometimes, the device was mounted. But now... I don't know what I need to make for having this device runing at my system... :-(
Anybody could help me, please?
Thank you!

Well, yesterday, one or two hours after send this message, I completed the system upgrade and, after reboot the machine, the external usb hard driver was recognized without any problem. By the way, I need to make some probes to know if the problem was really solved or not.
On wednesday of the previous week an important EHCI patch concerning device recognition went into the kernel CVS as a backport from 2.6.26-rc4. Without evidence to the contrary I'd blame that.
