The DVD does not have all packages. Check out the opensuse/distribution/10.2/repo/oss/ online repository. i may remind you there is a huge FTP tree, which could be added as installation source. maybe that helps darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

http://en.opensuse.org/Released_Version#Downloads
From there, scroll down to "openSUSE 10.2 Installation Repositories", and add the first one from that list to your YaST sources.
Some day it should maybe be added to the opensuse.org front page: The distribution does not fit onto 1 DVD. That's what the HTTP/FTP tree is for. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

If they split the 32 and 64 bit versions and put each on a DL-DVD it would all fit.

And who pays the bill for all the data that gets transfered just so that every user has everything on DVD without actually using most of it? The media layout is something that really a lot of work gets put into (of course users don't see it...). The easiest solution is to just install from the media as offered and fetch all further packages on an as-needed basis. The retail DVD 9 has everything. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I _was_ going to say me, when I buy the boxed set.

Ok, no problem. I'm happy to have the option.

That is correct. There is a lot that does not fit on the DVD 9. That is why I always download the entire ftp tree. It is the only way I am able to do an upgrade. Although I do prefer a new installation. But I have a few systems that I do upgrade. -- Boyd Gerber <gerberb@zenez.com> ZENEZ 1042 East Fort Union #135, Midvale Utah 84047 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

There are some space savings on the DVD9 because 32bit and 64bit share some packages.
