Hello, boot.ppc.iso does not seem to be useable. It does not contain a bootable kernel :( Any timeframe, when it will be fixed? I wanted to test it this year... Bye, CzP

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141168 Any news, when it will be available? I would like to ask for a few modifications to the installer to better support Pegasos based computers ( http://www.genesippc.com/products.php ). I wanted to base these on alpha4, but it was a horrible experience, so I'm waiting for an installable factory for PPC. As far, as I could understand from bugzilla talks, it's possible to detect, that the installation is done on a Pegasos machine. So, here are a few suggestions, which could make a Pegasos users life easier: - https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141214 : do not suggest to install a bootmanager (it will not work, especially not the CHRP Prep partition, which is recommended by YaST) - https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=141213 : "boot installed system" on the same screen as install (no additional "other" button) - if ps/2 mouse bug is not solved, then use the workaround from http://www.opensuse.org/PowerPC_X11_configuration unconditionally: in /etc/sysconfig/kernel in the string MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT add this: psmouse. It's better to have one additional module loaded always, as to have complaints because of non working PS/2 mouse. See: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=116406 - a working Xorg would be nice: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=134592 : I'll test as soon, as factory is installable again, the situation changed with each installation... - YaST does not support other than DOS partition tables. If something else is detected, YaST puts the partition table in 'read only' mode. The new pop-up window does not work, but a red text in the installation window would be even better (as it does not disappear from the users screen). ODW (the machine built around PegasosPPC, http://www.pegasosppc.com/odw.php) uses the Amiga partition table by default. See: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=134592 - suggest to have at least one ext2/ext3 partition, as it's needed for booting (the prepared kernel must be on this partition). This is always there on an ODW, as it comes with several Linux-es preinstalled, but is missing, if a user builds a machine herself. (I still need to put it into bugzilla) - additionally, I'm preparing a shell script, which could prepare a bootable kernel and an e-mail detailing possibilites for booting the machine. Sorry for the long e-mail, but I would like to make 10.1 more Pegasos friendly, as 10.0 was... Bye, CzP Ps: a Pegasos machine is available somewhere around Macknife

Nope. Most people are still on holiday and will be back next week, so You have to wait still a bit. Philipp -- Anything whose specification is too complicated to explain easily probably needs to be redesigned. David Abrahams on boost
