[opensuse-factory] [Leap 15.0 Build 128.1] First thoughts + question (which has been discussed before)
Hello all I downloaded the openSUSE-Leap-15.0-DVD-x86_64-Build128.1-Media.iso this evening and burnt it to an usb key using SUSE Studio Imagewriter. Then I put a brand new SSD hard drive into an old X200s Thinkpad and installed it. Yast2 proposed a gtp setup and it worked fine. I was expecting problems without an MBR setup given the age of the laptop. I refused the proposed hard drive settings (because I am lost on the subject) and I configured my own (a very basic EXT4 standard) with 40 Go / partition which includes $HOME - see related photo [1] for Yast2 partition details. [1] http://j.pearson.pagesperso-orange.fr/X200x.with.new.DH.png This setup works well for me because all my document, pictures and download directories are soft linked to other hard drives to protect my data when accidents happens. The installation went fine. I ***do like*** the version 6 of LibreOffice :) Next I installed my basic nice to have applications: zypper in gkrellm hddtemp youtube-dl qupzilla smartmontools imagewriter No problems I then installed chromium and Thunderbird - this is a test is to see if Leap 15 is ready for the girlfriend's machine. She is strong on video streaming and I do not want to eat at night out if there is a problem. The installation went fine - I have yet to test the video streaming however. Next I removed the RJ45 cable from the laptop and the wifi worked once I entered the password. I plugged in my Note4 android phone (the model is a SM-910F) which is running Nougat 7.1.2 (security updates are as of 5 Dec 2017). It connected find using Dolphin and I transfered a couple of files to openSUSE 42.3 with no problems. My question follows... My main system is running Leap 12.3 and TW . TW is not currently booting. When I install I ***always*** do a fresh install and I import existing mount points using the option "import existing mount points" under the expert setting using the Yast2 partitionner. Is this option still available ? I ask because I could not find it and I do not take (any vs. too many) risks with my main machine. Regards James One last comment I may, Vmware Tools on 14.1.1 build-7528167 of VMware® Workstation 14 Pro is not working for Leap 15. If anyone knows better please help me out. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Should be but it is work in progress, AFAIK.

Vmware Workstation 14 requires new processors. Older than 2011 are not supported. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/51643 -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
