[opensuse-factory] Why have you included webpin with 12.1
Hello all, Why has another non functioning webpin package searcher been included in 12.1? It hasn't been working for the last 2 - 3 versions of openSUSE. -- Cheers! Because, Pascal needs to redo it to make it more robust and allow the package list to be rebuilt more quickly. A victim of its success, OBS has so many more package than before.. ;) I am confident this will get resolved sooner or later. Please do remember Pascal, like many of us are volunteers and do this when we have free time, after work, family time and other obligations. It is not laziness, just not having 36 hours a day.... Its good to know. Several people have asked why webpin doesn't work since years and this is the first answer that explains it. Thanks! - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. You know that if you lived in a planet with a 36 hour day, you would take the same time to do the job. It would be fewer days, but the same time.
:-P

That's not really a satisfactory explanation. The YaST webpin module should at the very least be removed from the default installation. And possibly dropped completely or ported to use software.o.o/search. But at least I'm kinda happy it doesn't work. Cuz I always thought it's doing a big dis-service to everyone who don't understand the consequences of adding tons of unsupported repositories, when all they want to do is install some random package. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I agree about the time that has to be put in. If I was able to program, I would help you all. However, I can offer myself as a tester. I would like to thank Peter and Pascal for putting in the time to get webpin working. -- Cheers!
