Any changes to the XDG menu spec or jpeg handling or libraries in the past 30 days or so?

All, I'm trying to figure out a couple of strange issues seen lately in KDE3. I know it's not KDE that is changing, so I'm trying to find out if there have been changes to dependent libraries or specs that are impacting the XDG menu categorization and .jpeg handling (such as for konqueror image tooltip preview, kpatience card-game background loading, and moodin handling of .jpg images). Specifically I see: 1) all apps categorized as: Categories=Qt;KDE;Graphics;X-KDE-More; have moved in kmenu from Utilities->Desktop to Graphics->'More Programs', etc., see: KDE3 - kmenu - > Graphics -> More Programs https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/0fa3a2684860 where before they were: KDE3 - kmenu -> kruler (prior location) https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/bf97fdb358b9 2) jpeg (.jpg) images: - are no longer shown in konqueror tooltip image previews. Kde image apps like kview or the embedded image viewer can still read them, it's just the tooltip previews, and kspash theme previews, that no longer show the images. - will no longer load as backgrounds to kdm themes, - will no longer load as background to ksplash themes using the moodin engine. All of this has surfaced in Tumbleweed updates over the past 30 days or so in the last 5 or 6 point-releases to qt3/kde3 packages. My current install uses the following base libraries for jpeg handling: libheif-jpeg-1.19.7-1.3.x86_64 libheif-openjpeg-1.19.7-1.3.x86_64 libjpeg-turbo-3.0.4-81.4.x86_64 libjpeg62-62.4.0-81.3.x86_64 libjpeg62-devel-62.4.0-81.3.x86_64 libjpeg8-8.3.2-81.4.x86_64 libjpeg8-x86-64-v3-8.3.2-81.4.x86_64 libturbojpeg0-8.3.2-81.4.x86_64 libturbojpeg0-x86-64-v3-8.3.2-81.4.x86_64 With the current libjpeg.so -> libjpeg.so.8. Has this changed in the recent past? (I don't think so, but I'm not sure how to check backwards in history to seen when library symlinks were updated) These small issues are of the obscure type issues that I find tough to figure out. If anybody has any thoughts on the xdg menu category change or a guess at what could be causing the .jpeg strangeness, I'd welcome your thoughts. Even suggestions for test I can run that I'm not smart enough to know about would also be helpful. I've ldd'ed myself blind to no avail. So it feels like I'm trying to diagnose a subtle change in some dependent package has me spinning my wheels at the moment. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
