I've renewed all password on a 11.4 and 12.1 system and get strange result on 11.4 cat /etc/shadow | grep opensuse opensuse:$2a$10$EPcxswoNASXyR7MeY7YrcebEDXOaagv7fhdCLTiLFiEv6i5RTey4i:13920:0:99999:7::: yoda:~ # passwd opensuse Changing password for opensuse. New Password: Bad password: it is based on a dictionary word Reenter New Password: Password changed. yoda:~ # cat /etc/shadow | grep opensuse opensuse:$2y$10$6KzvWI97pJ3FXBvKrRSuaO26mS4llgi1Io8dBuqAg.mgSzRHEqhGu:15213:0:99999:7::: this seems absolutely correct from what is describe in the security bulletin Now the same on a factory system (where the password come from a 11.4 base ) cat /etc/shadow | grep opensuse opensuse:$2a$10$vmBJsKGLskEWBHF2aibJpu2hYegPHFCCBYbBUn7EwKaKit7PSm.ha:15019:0:99999:7::: passwd opensuse Changing password for opensuse.
