Over 2500 packages updated and no announcements?
Hello, I ran zypper ref && zypper dup and I'm still receiving over 2500 new packages. I've not seen the traditional "New Tumbleweed snapshot..." announcement for this heavy update. Regards, -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210210 Kernel:5.10.12-1-default Desktop: XFCE (4.16.0)

I've not seen the traditional "New Tumbleweed snapshot..." announcement for this heavy update. It is on the list, as usual.

not necessairly. it is quite possible to set up the repos to not auto refresh, indeed it is my setting.

No, not as usual but under a different Subject, may be this is the reason why I unnoticed it. */Brace for impact: Snapshot 20210212 is a full rebuild based on glibc 2.33/* Cheers, -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210212 Kernel:5.10.14-1-default Desktop: XFCE (4.16.0)

*/Brace for impact: Snapshot 20210212 is a full rebuild based on glibc 2.33/
There were two messages: 1) an extra heads-up about the size of the snapshot https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/factory@lists.opensuse.org/thread/G... 2) the regular announcement when 20210212 was released https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/factory@lists.opensuse.org/thread/F... I don't think there is anything that was missing from the announcement perspective - only from the reader perspective. Of course it is never easy to follow all mailing lists and upfront identify, based on subject, if that is really relevant. Ideas for improvements are welcome. Cheers, Dominique

I have a separate folder under my openSUSE folder in my e-mail that all emails that have the words "new" and "snapshot" in the subject are moved to the "snapshot" folder. For this folder I have turned notifications on. As such I was fully aware of the large upgrade size. Maybe that's an idea to keep track of the snapshots and keep it separate from the other emails. /Syds

Set a Reply-To: factory+xyz@opensuse.org. Make factory+xyz an address which is backed by a script which changes the Subject to "I did not read the mail" and then feeds it back to the mailing list as usual.

Not an improvement per se but we could push out the email's text to news-o-o additionally. Gives bonus points for constant publicity, hence the "communication problem" of openSUSE in general here. vinz.
