[opensuse-factory] Kernel 4.4 and missing secondary display
Hi, With the update to kernel 4.4, my secondary display went dark. This is on a Sandybridge graphics system with an Intel mainboard, the same problem persists with 4.4.1 and 4.5-rc1 kernels from OBS (Kernel:Stable and Kernel:HEAD), while a 4.3.3 from home:tiwai:kernel:4.3 makes the display connected to "HDMI2" (actually the DVI connector) work again fine - the main display on "HDMI1" (HDMI connector of the mainboard) works fine with all those kernel variants. Should this be reported on the openSUSE Bugzilla for Tumbleweed, or on the Freedesktop one for the Intel driver directly - or perhaps on both? Yes, at best both. The opensuse.org one just needs to the upstream bugzilla URL, so that we can merge the fix patch quickly to openSUSE kernels. thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This is topic of 4.4 regression patch development on the intel-gfx mailing list, so probably will be fixed very soon. With series 4 Intel gfx dual outputs here remain working in TW's 4.4. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Can you point me to the thread, or is there a bug report to follow? I can only use kernels that have my second screen working and I'd like to know when I can return to mainline TW kernels. https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2016-February/087332.html looks like the starter of the thread I was thinking of. I don't see an existing bug on point, but that doesn't seem to be unusual for Intel driver issues that show up on the intel-gfx mailing list. I checked this Haswell system with TW and KDE3 over the past hour, and found no issues using VGA1 and HDMI1 in side-by-side via xrandr. Worked OK with both 4.4.0 and 4.4.1 kernels. OK, I finally got around to filing bugs for it, esp. as I'm not sure if that stuff from the mailing list really matches my case.
