[opensuse-factory] question about following 12.3 development
Heya, I've installed openSUSE 12.3 beta1 on my system. Now I would like to have the latest version (as close to 12.3 as is possible) on there so I can not only test but also make screenshots and screencasts with the new artwork added since Beta1. What repositories should I have enabled? I understand that 'Factory' is open for new package versions, so that's moving beyond 12.3 already. So where is the 'real' 12.3 repo, then? https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Factory_installation does not answer my question, worse, it points to tested factory repositories which haven't been updated in 6 weeks (so I'm guessing either factory doesn't pass openQA or something else is wrong). /Jos

Stealthily right where intuition tells you they should be. It took me a whole lot of releases to figure the following out. While to look at http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/ one would think there are not yet repos for 12.3, fact is they are there. Proof is that if you remove 12.3's existing /etc/zypp/repos.d/*, copy your 12.2 files there, in each file s/12.2/12.3/g, then clean & refresh, zypper and yast will find 12.3's oss, non-oss & update files without complaint. Repos on http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/ can only be seen via web browser after release announcement, even though they do exist once a release branching from Factory has been announced on the mailing lists. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." This is just an apache-level mod_rewrite redirect pointing to /factory-snapshot/repo/oss. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I thought factory-snapshot was only changed at milestone release times to sync with the latest iso releases. Less than a week ago (4-5 days?) when I HTTP installed from factory-snapshot, changed the repos to 12.3 on first boot, then did zypper dup, where did the new packages come from? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." update repository? "zypper patch" picks them as well. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

In case anyone was wondering: the latest you can get is in factory-snapshot. Newer packages (to be part of RC2) are not available as that extra load would be to heavy on the mirrors. /J
