[opensuse-factory] Laptop oddness with RC2.
It did not install the laptop patterns, or the 'desktop' kernel. These I had to do manually. It also missing the thing to set my monitor to turn itself off. I don't remember exactly where that was since I set it and forgot about it. -- (1) Everything depends. (2) Nothing is always. You missed to name the desktop environmant you're using. One more reason to focus on one only. ;) Anyhow, with KDE this is quite easy by opening the Kickoff Menu -> Systemsettings -> Hardware/ Display and Monitor. As this had been this easy that even I had been able to find it I suggest you have to fix five Factory bugs in return. ;) Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

You're over thinking it :-) If you want to tinker with sleep settings, try going to KDE Menu > System Settings > Hardware > Power Management
Power Profiles

Yes, KDE sorry. I looked again there, and there is no powersave options. There is no option to put the display to sleep.

C. I think I found the setting. I could have sworn there was a more specific module (under screensaver maybe?) before. I set it to 20 minutes before, but never saw it actually change. I'll just have to tinker with it to make sure its working then report back.
In regards to the other issues I brought up in the original posting though... is this supposed to be the behavior? It has changed, 11.4 always pulled in the 'laptop' pattern. 11.3 always (unless I'm mistaken) would also pull in the 'desktop' kernel instead of default. -- Omnibiblious, adj.: Indifferent to type of drink. in my kde there is a main "gestion de l'énergie" entry (icon=light bulb) that should translate as powersave jdd -- http://www.dodin.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Please note, roger, that such questions do NOT belong on this list. This is for development of Factory, not for asking questions about KDE. Please ask such things on the forums, #suse irc channel or any of our other user help forums.

I think it is adecuate here. There is a bug report in there. Plus, you can not ask users questions related to factory in the normal mail list, it is off-topic there. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. He said "RC2", so he's using Factory. The report is topical at least until someone can tell him that it really was a generic problem that also exists on any other version besides Factory. Perhaps, IF that is true, then further questions might possibly not be topical, but if he only encountered the problem on Factory, then it was entirely reasonable for him to start here. -- bkw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
