[opensuse-factory] Leap 42.2 failed/unresolvable packages
Hello, [1] provides a list of packages which are not building for Leap 42.2, e.g. due to unsatisfied dependencies. For some(most) of these a package for Tumbleweed exists and it seems mainly an issue of updating the package for Leap 42.2 e.g. on this list the reason given for kdevelop4 is "nothing provides kscreen < 5.3.0 needed by kdebase4-workspace". The current Leap 42.2 snapshot contains kscreen5-5.7.0-1.2 The current Tumbleweed snapshot contains kscreen5-5.7.0-1.1, and it contains kdevelop4-4.7.3-3.1. I just want to point this out in order to avoid accidental gaps in the final release. If there is a plan to perform these updates at a later time please ignore this post. Regards, Dieter [1] https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?commit=Filter%3A&failed=1&unresolvable=1&defaults=0&arch_x86_64=1&repo_standard=1&project=openSUSE%3ALeap%3A42.2 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Already reported as bug: http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=990982 In short, kscreen1 (the KDE4 version) fails to build in Leap 42.2 so it is not available, but kdebase4-workspace (the KDE4 desktop, that's not supported or even usable any more) requires it. The dependencies have been changed in the devel project some time ago already, this just has not been forwarded to 42.2 yet (which is forked from 42.1, not Factory).
The current Leap 42.2 snapshot contains kscreen5-5.7.0-1.2
Yes, that's the KF5/Plasma5 version, needed by the Plasma5 desktop.
The current Tumbleweed snapshot contains kscreen5-5.7.0-1.1, and it contains kdevelop4-4.7.3-3.1.
What's the relation to kdevelop4 here? If you mean that kdevelop4 also fails to build, that will be addressed of course and actually will be fixed by the kdebase4-workspace update that's yet to be submitted to Leap 42.2.
I just want to point this out in order to avoid accidental gaps in the final release. If there is a plan to perform these updates at a later time please ignore this post.
Of course we (as in the KDE team) plan to perform updates to 42.2 as time permits, some packages (e.g. kscreen1) will likely just be removed though. Thanks for the reminder though. I forwarded kdebase4-workspace now: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/416223 And two delete requests, which should fix some build problems too: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/416224 https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/416225 Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks for the reminder though. Thanks to the KDE team for the good work!

Of course kdevelop4 can coexist with kscreen5. And kdevelop4 is in Leap 42.2, it just failed to build until now. Btw, the update for kdebase4-workspace has been accepted to 42.2 today, so kdevelop4 builds fine now. Though we probably should update it to the latest version too... ;-) Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks for bringing up the topic. Some packages got fixed meanwhile. There's a long way to go still though. Anyone up to writing a program that can generate e.g. trello cards from it? Might help coordinating the work among several people. https://build.opensuse.org/project/status/openSUSE:Leap:42.2?format=json -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
