[opensuse-factory] factory updates
Hi, after a long time (two weeks), we were able to finish a build for openSUSE:Factory again. Upload just finished. Any news, when PPC will be available?
Currently none of the boot medias are bootable, we need to have some time to find the reason for this. -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Where is the problem? It is not bootable on a Mac, or it is not bootable at all? Anyway, even if it can't be booted, it could be used for 'zypper -v dup', so please make it available! Hello, Adrian Schröter írta:
fixed that in general yesterday, the system is currently generating a ppc ftp stream.
Found a first trace of it: there is now a suseboot directory with PPC boot files in x86 factory. Now all we need is the PPC repository :) Could you upload it today? It does at least not work out of the box for me: localhost:~ # LANG=CC zypper clean -a All repositories have been cleaned up. localhost:~ # LANG=CC zypper ref -f Forcing raw metadata refresh Retrieving repository 'factory-oss' metadata [done] Forcing building of repository cache Building repository 'factory-oss' cache [done] The repository contains 2.6.27.1 which should be listed below. As far as I can see zypper does not find a single package from the factory repo. It does find packages from other repos. localhost:~ # LANG=CC zypper search --details kernel-default Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Here's what I got. The following NEW packages are going to be installed: elfutils gcc43-gij gcc-gij java-1_5_0-gcj-compat kpowersave-lang libasm1 libdw1 libelf1 libgcj43 libgcj43-jar libnet The following packages are going to be reinstalled: gettext-runtime gmime gmime-sharp libarchive2 libgmime-2_0-3 libsnmp15 libxine1 libxine1-gnome-vfs libxine1-pulse perl-Net-DNS snmp-mibs The following packages are going to be REMOVED: hal-resmgr resmgr The following packages are going to change architecture: glibc glibc-devel OpenOffice_org-branding-upstream timezone-java Some questions (i realize resmgr is now merged so fine with that), but why the arch change (i386 here), is it going to i(5)686? (i'll check after upgrade is done). How is it going to reinstall libxine1? I don't have the repository enabled, and it's not on factory. Here's to a hopefully successful Beta 3 upgrade, and some goooood bug squashing. They are a dvs iso image for this release? Thanks 2008/10/18 Adrian Schröter <adrian@suse.de>:

Factory is always a snapshot and not a release. All what you can do is to do a network installation or an update from existing system. (btw, I am updating my notebook atm using this snapshot). bye adrian
Thanks
