Blender's got [openFATE 310929] include blender 2.5 in opensuse 11.4 Dvd. My LV2 plugin packages are still knocking on factory's door. Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

openCOLLADA import/export libraries (It seems openSUSE is the only linux distro with shared libs) has had an API update, already incorporated into blender so this update will take a while. As far as multimedia:apps repository is concerned Ardour now has LV2 plugin support and I haven't got round to the other mmaps due to updating the libs first. Oh yes Xine-ui is updated.
Thanks Dave P
http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/ Rosegarden is a well-rounded audio and MIDI sequencer, score editor, and general-purpose music composition and editing environment. Rosegarden is an easy-to-learn, attractive application that runs on Linux, ideal for composers, musicians, music students, and small studio or home recording environments. The qt4 only version of Rosegarden is a complete rewrite of the old 1.7.x series of rosegarden and has many new features and enhancements. This version 11.02 is the 6th release in this series and is a bug fix release that addresses a few of those annoying problems that hang around for the longest time, because they are rather complicated to fix. The most notable of these is that nine years after the first complaints, we have FINALLY found some sensible way to handle tied notes in the matrix and notation editors. New Features * The matrix editor represents tied notes with a different fill pattern * The split-and-tie long notes option has been made the factory default once more, in light of the vastly improved handling of ties in the matrix and notation editors Available Languages The following translations are complete and up to date for this release: * Spanish (español o castellano) * French (français) * German (Deutsch) The following languages are missing fewer than 50 translations: * Czech (česky) The following languages are missing fewer than 100 translations: * Japanese (日本語) * Swedish (svenska) * Finnish (suomi) The following languages are missing fewer than 500 translations: * Chinese (中文) * Italian (italiano) The following languages are missing more than 1000 translations: * Russian (русский) * Dutch (Nederlands) The following languages are missing more than 2000 translations: * Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) The following languages are missing more than 4000 translations: * Catalan (Català) * Welsh (Cymraeg) * Estonian (eesti) * Basque (euskara) * Polish (polski) Statistics based on the number of “unfinished” translations. Hello Mates,
i've just would ask, if we have an List of Key-Features in oS 11.4. I would like to dokument it... We did some bigger work in the area of LDAP client setup. By default YaST'S LDAP Client configuration wizard now sets up sssd (System Security Services Daemon, see: https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/). This brings quite some improvments for people using LDAP authentication/authorization in

Here's my personal list: Distro: * Linux 2.6.37 - including free Broadcom wlan drivers for some recent chips * LibreOffice - including much improved kde integration and docx export out of the box * zypp download improvements - including faster repo refresh cuz of zsync and better proxy support * webyast * Firefox 4(?) KDE: * KDE SC 4.6 (maaaaaajor step from 4.4 of 11.3) * kdepim 4.4.10 * bluedevil - new KDE bluetooth tool * plasmoid-networkmanagement replaces knetworkmanager * oxygen-gtk * rekonq - included in the official repo * pulseaudio on by default in kde (but easy to get rid of) * kpackagekit new default updater * HAL-free default installation And of course you can search on openfate for completed features: https://features.opensuse.org/query/run?search_string=&tag=&search_products%5B%5D=22236&search_status%5B%5D=done&type=find&commit=Search I'm unsure to what extent we should tout upstream features as openSUSE 11.4 improvements (ubuntu style marketing). On the one hand most users prolly don't have a clue what has happened upstream since openSUSE 11.3, on the other hand it feels wrong taking credit for what other people have done. And finally, of course openSUSE 11.4 has one major "feature" going for it, it'll be the first major distro to have all the latest goodies - since we release before *buntu, Fedora and co. this time around. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

One "latest goodie" IIRC OS hasn't had in a while: Midnight Commander. e.g. 11.3 was released with MC 4.6.2 while 4.7.0.5 was latest MC stable before version freeze. 11.2 was released with MC 4.6.2 while latest MC stable before version freeze was 4.7.0-pre3. 11.1 was the last released with a .pre MC. The latest stable MC was released in December. The MC version in 11.4 now is 6 months old. Looks to me like _all_ the latest goodies won't be in 11.4. -- "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver." Proverbs 16:16 NKJV Team OS/2 ** Reg. Samba 3.5.6 will be included and addresses the following major isuess: - Add support for full Windows timestamp resolution - 'net', 'smbclient' and libsmbclient can use credentials cached by Winbind. - The default value of "wide links" has been changed to "no". - Experimental implementation of SMB2 - Add encryption support for connections to a CUPS server - Winbind aynchronous and general major refactoring - New vfs_scannedonly module has been added. - Includes security fixes to address CVE-2010-0728 and CVE-2010-3069. For more information about Samba in openSUSE we might point people to http://en.openSUSE.org/Samba and in general http://samba.org/ has a column presenting the latest news about Samba. And now I remember we already had 3.5.4 in 11.3. Therefore only the CVE-2010-3069 fix and some major enhancements got added with 3.5.6. See http://samba.org/samba/history/samba-3.5.6.html for the detailed list of addressed issues. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

From my personal stuff, notify-osd is now available. Many thanks to Vincent Untz and openSUSE GNOME Team.
This package isn't exactly the same as in Ubuntu as we've extended configuration to allow skinning/theming on the Notification Bubble. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Hi, One more bullet point. Scribus 1.4.0 should be out and in Factory before 11.4 is final. 1.4 is a complete rewrite to Qt4 with numerous new features, increased performance and faster loading time. 11.4 will be the first distro to ship the new version. Don't we already have such a list with the announcements of all previous milestones? It just feels like we're being asked again and again to document what are the cool latest changes :/ Maybe we should track all this on a wiki page? Anyway, on the GNOME side, here's what I can think of: - GNOME 2.32: latest stable GNOME 2.x release, with all the latest fixes - GNOME Shell and GTK+ 3 preview: packages available for developers to play with GTK+ 3, and for users to play with GNOME Shell (which is a subset of what will be new in GNOME 3) - many new applications packaged and available. See http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_new_packages for a list (which is actually not up-to-date, but it's a good start) - webm support - hal really out by default - latest versions of all popular apps (pidgin, gnucash, inkscape, gimp, and most other apps you can think of) Cheers, Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
