[opensuse-factory] Virtualization:Cloud:OpenStack
Hi! I would like to propose $SUBJ as the new devel project to Factory. It will host the current stable release of OpenStack and we'll push the packages to Factory once this is approved. Thanks! -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o openSUSE Boosters Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9 prusnak[at]opensuse.org Czech Republic -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Why not using Virtualization:Cloud? There are at the moment only four packages in the project. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Why not using Virtualization:Cloud?
The idea is that Virtualization cloud contains packages that are useful for multiple cloud infrastructures, such as euca2ools (accepted into factory today :) ). euca2ools can be used with EC2, Eucalyptus and OpenStack (the cloud infrastructure the boosters working on to integrate for 12.2). We have a project for the various cloud infrastructure implementations Virtualization:Cloud:Eucalyptus Virtualization:Cloud;OpenNebula Virtualization:Cloud:OpenStack I think this organization makes sense as people can easily find the packages they are looking for based on known cloud infrastructure names. If we'd throw them all together into one project it would be a great big mess ;) Robert -- Robert Schweikert MAY THE SOURCE BE WITH YOU SUSE-IBM Software Integration Center LINUX Tech Lead rjschwei@suse.com rschweik@ca.ibm.com 781-464-8147 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

The 57548 projects maintained in the OBS are already a big mess. If you have three cloud infrastructure implementations then I expect all of them have from the packaging point of view a clean depencies and a well separated name space. The intention of my comment is to make people aware that more repositories don't make things easier to our users. It's harder to find and harder to install and maintain. But as all of us manage well to submit their stuff to openSUSE:Factory all will be fine at the end. ;) Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

A sophisticated (by naming) and differenting substructure is a good thing and eases the find out for the searching. The 57548 projects (your number, but you surely should know) maintained in the OBS are a big success! And the best aspect: usable (and used) for almost all distributions, not only SUSE, but useable for the whole Linux community! That's it, and SUSE is making the way. Linus should spend you a "Ritterschlag" if he had the authority of the british queen.
