I tried the applydeltaiso on the commandline. # applydeltaiso openSUSE-11.0-Beta3-DVD-i386.iso openSUSE-11.0-Beta3_RC1-DVD-i386.delta.iso openSUSE-11.0-RC1.iso reading 743142358 bytes from old iso...done cracklib-dict-full (???): applying delta payload uncompress error -rwxr-xr-x 1 erikja vboxusers 4595501056 May 30 11:36 openSUSE-11.0-Beta3-DVD-i386.iso -rwxr-xr-x 1 erikja vboxusers 817008972 May 30 11:17 openSUSE-11.0-Beta3_RC1-DVD-i386.delta.iso -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 63347468 May 30 12:15 openSUSE-11.0-RC1.iso This gives the same lowsized iso output. I think you have a too-old version of applydeltaiso - see threads on this list from around a month ago. Version in 11.0beta3 should be OK to build 11.0rc1, but earlier ones fail like this. BTW I gave up trying to upgrade the applydeltaiso on my 10.2 system - no responses at all to a message here similar to yours at the time. I had to download the entire DVDs... Hello Richard. Thanks for the reply. For 11.0 B3 I also gave up, and did as you did. Maybe also necessary this time. Then it's good to have fast Inet line :-) Cheers Erik --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Known issue. You can not use the aplydeltaiso program in 10.3 or earlier, you need the one in factory, and the rpm and what else. There are updates for those somewhere, it was explained in the factory list not very long ago (a month?). Search that archive. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Unless the copy of applydeltaiso in my 10.3 installation has been upgraded and I don't know about, I applied the delta iso successfully under 10.3 by using this on the command line: applydeltaiso /dev/cdrom <name of the B2 to B3 delta to apply> <name of the new iso to be created> of course I had the DVD of Beta2 in dev/cdrom. The contents of the DVD are read in, the delta applied and the output goes to the destination you specify (in my case it went to the second HD on a different IDE cable to speed things up). The same should apply to B3-RC1. Does anyone know how much RAM you need for the deltarpm? I've run it with 512MB and it's failed due to not enough ram...... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It should not fail if you have enough RAM+swap. I did it not once in 512 MB, but I use 1 GB swap space. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I had it fail with 256MB RAM and 1GB swap when patching one of the files on beta3. This was a bit surprising since the same machine had successfully built the beta2 DVD. Anyway, after applying the required upgrades[0] to applydeltaiso, etc. on one of my 10.3 systems, it worked just fine.
