restarting X worked today, but I will have to do much searching yet.

I normally start icewm using startx before opening KDE desktop and icewm works fine. it's a KDE/plasma6 problem, I tink.

I tried X also and although login works, I had similar problems, but didn't checked too much before I reverted to a the pre-upgrade snapshot.
