Re: [opensuse-factory] TW : LibreOffice : soffice.bin

The only workaround I can find for now is to start LibreOffice with the following environment variable (or add it /etc/environment): SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice All the other options (SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde4 | SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk | SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3) all cause the high CPU usage. So it definitely has something to do with the desktop environment integration. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I suggest that you edit ~/.bashrc, and add the following line to it export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen Then re-login to XFCE. Robert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

start libreoffice from the command-line, xterm box: SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice *exactly* as above then see if you still get %100 usage -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

another way you might try, from an xterm box/window: export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

what you were doing before was correct but not complete. adding the option to your environment is the right way but is only seen if you open libreoffice from a new login, or after a reboot or from a bash/sh/zsh/... session that has read the new environment string. your failing instances apparently were not. the above provides the variable to your *current* environment -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
