[opensuse-factory] help promote openSUSE 12.1!
Heya all, I know you're all busy getting this release out. But if you want to take a break from packaging & coding, maybe - MAYBE you like to spend a bit of time on marketing and promo :D As you might have read on news.opensuse.org we invite you to help out with the promotion of openSUSE 12.1: http://bit.ly/svY0Is There are plenty of ways you can give this new release some extra visibility, be it by tweeting, putting stuff on facebook, your blog or in other places. Moreover, we can use your help with writing the http://ietherpad.com/12-1-release-notes Finally, we'd like to ask for help creating screencasts and video's of openSUSE 12.1. I believe the boosters promised to make a how-to and I've seen some stuff in the opensuse/artwork repository, but even without that I'm sure many of you are still quite able to create a screencast of some cool feature you worked on. We can publish those on our blip.tv account (syndicates to youtube and planet.opensuse.org) and of course they can be referenced and used in our release announcement and articles. Cheers and thanks, your marketing team

How many screenshots are there right now? Is their a need for more? If so, I would create some. cheers, --kdl -- -o) Kim Leyendecker /\\ openSUSE Ambassador, openSUSE Wiki Team DE _\_v http://www.opensuse.org - Linux for open minds -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Go and see, I don't know. The link is something like en.opensuse.org/Screenshots_12.1 - you can find the link in the article on news.o.o :D

Jos, I know this isn't the proper place, but is there anyway I can get some promo stuff (media) to pass on around on work (most of the native population uses RHEL or Fedora), but it's nice maybe to have some openSUSE stuff to hand out. NM 2011/11/3 Jos Poortvliet <jos@opensuse.org>:

After release there will be promo DVDs, if you mean something like that. what about that? http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Marketing_materials hope this helps, --kdl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, you could order promo DVD's and we'd trow in some stickers and such too. see software.opensuse.org/promodvds for how-to. If you want to print some stuff to hand out, send me a personal mail and we can figure out together what makes sense and if I can re-imburse you. Note that it's really not economical for us to send less than 100 DVD's but I'm sure you can hand out that many over the next 8 months, right :D If you plan to go to a conference and man a booth, you could simply order in advance and start handing out a bit now... If you can't really use that many, you'll have to try and get some at a local event which has openSUSE people who did order some stuff. Hope it answers your question :D /Jos
hope this helps, --kdl
