[opensuse-factory] XEmacs anyone?
Hi, as current maintainer I'd like to drop the Xemacs. This because we have GNU-Emacs which with real wide character support as well as better maintained in comparision to Xemacs. So, question is: Is there anybody that wants to take over as maintainer of XEmacs? If not, Werner will file a drop request next week... We need somebody to maintain the core xemacs package as well, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger aj@{suse.com,opensuse.org} Twitter/Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn,Jennifer Guild,Felix Imendörffer,HRB16746 (AG Nürnberg) GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

As a long term xemacs user, I must say I switched to emacs last year because xemacs switches from issue to issue and upstream just can't get a stable release out ;( Perhaps we can get it back some day, but in the current state I agree to drop it. Haven't read this earlier. Maybe you should have a look at SXEmacs http://www.sxemacs.org/ It's a very actively developed XEmacs fork. My plan was to get it into factory as soon as some minor build problems and conflicts will be solved. There are git snapshotted rpms in my home (currently rebuilding) https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=sxemacs&project=home%3Arudi_m%3Adevel-snap allthough still a lot build failures (%check) which I want to get fixed by upstream before sr'ing it to factory. cu, Rudi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
