Recurring question (or should I say complaint?) on openSUSE forum is "why cannot I run GUI program as root when I can do it on every other distribution". Well ... Upstream sudo keeps $DISPLAY and $XAUTHORITY by default which is enough for running GUI programs as root. Ubuntu (and I assume Debian) do not modify default. Fedora overrides defaults but explicitly allows DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY. This leaves (open)SUSE that overrides defaults but does not add DISPLAY and/or XAUTHORITY. Is there some reason for this? Both for overriding defaults and for not allowing GUI? If keeping locale is desired, why not augment instead of replace? env_keep+="LANG LC_ADDRESS LC_CTYPE ..."
