[opensuse-factory] Two XFCE problems on 13.1 RC1
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I have two problems with XFCE. 1) Log out is impossible. Solution seems to be install "iceauth" (bug 845264) 2) Once "iceauth" is installed, I can log out, but it doesn't ask to save settings on log out (setting to "ask on log out" is set). Is there a report on (2) ? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Is there a report on (2) ?
I cannot reproduce this, if I enable PromptOnLogout with $ xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/PromptOnLogout -s true $ xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/PromptOnLogout true I get a checkbox in the "Log out" dialog. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

But it is not yet available. I updated and did not get it. I had to install "iceauth" manually.

No, don't enable it via command. You have to enable it via settings dialog. Maybe it is the settings dialog which fails to issue the appropiate command. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Well try for yourself and check the result via xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/PromptOnLogout Works for me both through xfconf-query and xfce4-session-settings. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Session and startup [ ] automatically save session on logout [X] prompt on logout I attempt to logout, there is no prompt, nor a checkbox. And still no checkbox. Notice that I have an RC1, installed fresh, with only official patches, and updates (yast, update to newer version if available). Is it possible that you have updates that have not been published? The only update I see today is for autoyast. -- Cheers/Saludos Carlos E. R. And still no checkbox.
No, it just means the /general/PromptOnLogout property hasn't been created in xfconf. But it actually isn't relevant, I just looked up the PromptOnLogout means something else, it determines whether there is a confirmation dialog before shutdown/reboot/ suspend/hibernate. Just to be sure, the problem is that you don't see the "Save session for future logins" checkbox in the "Log out" dialog? If so, the only reason this setting will be hidden is that you enabled "Automatically save session on logout", i.e. the /general/AutoSave property in the xfce4-session channel is set to true. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No, autosave is disabled. Please notice what I wrote: Session and startup dialog: [ ] automatically save session on logout [X] prompt on logout -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 12.3 x86_64 "Dartmouth" at Telcontar)

OK, however I looked up the code, the visibility of the checkbutton only depends on this xfconf property so there must be something with your xfconf settings. Try resetting xfce4-session settings via xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -r -R -p / or somewhat more radically rm $HOME/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-session.xml when logged out. After that xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/AutoSave should show false and the checkbutton should be visible, it reliably does so on my system. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Correction! The tick box is not displayed after cliking log-out, it is displayed BEFORE! There is a dialog common for log out, restart, shutdown, suspend, hibernate. The tick box is there, not on the dialog that displays when "log out" is clicked. So, it was a confussion on my part, because the tick box appears on an unexpected place. Sigh... sorry. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. Correction again. There are two exit menus, and they are different. There is one on the right hand side of the default panel, labeled with my full name, with separate entries for each action. If I select the action "log out" there is no tick box anywhere to save the session. However, if I on the main menu at the left hand side I select "log out", I get a dialog with several actions, one which is "log out", and in this dialog there is a tick box for saving the session. Thus, there are two roads for log out, one with tick box, one without. This is designed this way, I'm afraid. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Yes, it is designed that way, note the ellipsis behind the "Log out" in the main menu which signifies a dialog. The action buttons menu (by default on the right hand side) can also be configured to include that menu item. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
