[opensuse-factory] Mount USB flash stick as root, why?
When I insert an USB stick and choose to open it in a File Manager, it asks me for the root password and launches the File Manager Super User Mode. What's up with that? Bug? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Forgot to mention, this happens in KDE Plasma 5 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Could it be the contents of the stick which are the problem? I know that for some reason Imagewrite insists on having root permission to write to a stick. I've just tried to see what 13.2 does but the device notifier says there's nothing plugged in. Apparently your default file manager is set to "File Manager - Super User Mode". Try to change the default application for inode/directory in "Configure Desktop"->"Applications"->"File Associations". The problem is gone, by itself, just as it appeared. It's the thrills of the Tumbleweed. Update and see what happens :) I checked now for "inode/mount-point", it's not "Super User", it's just "Dolphin" %u and everything works as it should. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, it's just "Dolphin" now, when everything works. (though as I wrote, the corresponding mimetype is rather "inode/directory", not "inode/mount- point"...) But it probably was set differently when you had the problem. There were general problems with incorrect default file associations (related to a glib2 update) in Tumbleweed around the time you asked this... See e.g. http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2016-03/msg00006.html And they should be fixed by now. Of course I do not know whether this really was your problem, but IMHO it would surely sound like it.
