[opensuse-factory] Fail to install 11.3 RC2 in HP Mini 311

Hello list, I try to install 11.3 RC2 in HP Mini 311, Intel Atom N280, with Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g. Using KDE Live CD, YaST stop at 41%. Try ctrl+alt+f1 to see what happen in the text mode cannot work also. Try to install it from DVD, Installation went ok. But when I reboot it, the boot process stop after loading b43-pci-bridge. I can see it when selecting failsafe in grub. In 11.2, it use broadcom-wl, dmesg give me [ 11.479048] wl 0000:03:00.0: PCI INT A -> Link[AX3A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [ 11.479075] wl 0000:03:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 Is there a solution to blacklist b43-pci-bridge and use broadcom-wl for this wlan, or do I miss something here? regards, -- medwinz ======================= http://medwinz.blogsome.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Maybe the f1 is available together with fn button. Does ctrl+alt+fn+f1 work ? -- -vlado Vladimir Botka -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

That probably will not work. The bug in question causes the machine to freeze because address of the SPROM on the Broadcom device was changed. The 2.6.34 driver is not aware of the change and attempts to read at the old address. On some, but not all, netbook motherboards, this attempted read of a non-existent address locks the machine. I think the answer for the Live CD is to include a "brokenmodules=ssb" line when booting, but I need to test it. I cannot confirm it right now whether it works or not. I will test it as soon as possible.. best, -- medwinz ======================= http://medwinz.blogsome.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
