Kernel 5.13: VirtualBox fails with fatal error when it tries to boot a guest system - no matter what kind of guest system. With Kernel 5.12 it works like a charme. Anyone with the same experience? Winni

I have kernel-default-5.3.18-59.10.1.x86_64 and it runs VirtualBox without problem.
No, I am on Tumbleweed and I am not the only one with this problem. Look at the link in the post from Andrei Borzenkov . [ Thanx! ] Problem still not solved. Temporary workaround: Start Kernel 5.12 as default. Am 10.07.21 um 20:19 schrieb Stratos Zolotas:

You have 5.3 not 5.13. You are on leap 15.2 not tumbleweed.
I replied to James who is on 5.3 not 5.13. I am on 5.13 with same problem and I can confirm. We need to wait for a virtualbox update to support 5.13 kernel. On Sat, Jul 10, 2021 at 9:51 PM Winfried Bartnick <winni@bartnick.info> wrote:

https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1188105 Use an older kernel (<5.13) and wait for a new VirtualBox release to support the 5.13 kernel. On 7/10/21 5:54 PM, Winfried Bartnick wrote:

Does anyone know if there is a planned release date for the new VirtualBox with support for 5.13. I'm just trying to decide whether it would be worth my time to migrate to QEMU and KVM or whether I should just wait it out. Simon.

Simon.
My personal opinion: It will be worth your time in any case. The migration is easy and it will save you from stuff like this in the future. Ben

OK. I'll do that then. Thank you for the advice. Simon.

https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=103317#p502312 (That thread was already linked by Andrei)
When will VirtualBox 6.1.24 be released? I'd expect it to be released around July 20th 2021, but there is no guarantee.
Hope that helps.
