Does this mean that 3.3.2 worked? regards, -- js suse labs -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

If the keyboard uses class compliant USB MIDI, then yes:
uname -a Linux Box 3.3.2-20-pae #1 SMP Fri Apr 13 20:52:58 UTC 2012 (addbdfa) i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
F0 3E 13 00 20 00 00 08 02 F7 F0 3E 13 00 20 00 00 08 05 F7 If on the other hand it needs a firmware loader, then the issue might have to do with it not loading the firmware correctly (although I don't think it would even show up as a MIDI device in ALSA then). I'll install the new kernel today or tomorrow and see what changes. I can always boot 3.3.2 if it really breaks MIDI... Oh man! After look and try many usr relevant settings I found the malfactor: tlp usb autosuspend settings. I use tlp (energy-saving tools for thinkpad laptops) and they autosuspend usb devices by default. Now I have blacklisted my midi keyboard an all is good. I can reproduce the problem this way. Seems so that the midi keyboard doesn't wake up if it once sleeping. For all with similar problems: edit /etc/default/tlp and set USB_BLACKLIST="<device id from usbls>" or disable usb autosuspend entirely with USB_AUTOSUSPEND=0 thanks and sorry for the bother. steffen Am Freitag, 27. I connected both devices after logging in to KDE, in the past I had trouble with the MIDI interface when it was plugged in during boot since it often did not receive the firmware in this case.
