[opensuse-factory] problem in building/installing pcp: requires postfix? and can't be used with sendmail?
Seems like to install or build pcp on tumbleweed, it wants postfix which conflicts with my installed sendmail. Why would a run-time status gathering daemon care about what mail daemon you are running? Is this an oversight or bug or what? thanks... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

man zypper /no-recommends/

postfix is required by pcp module that gathers postfix statistic. This module is optional.

Personally I'd say instead of Requires: postfix Supplements: pcp it should be Supplements: packageand(postfix:pcp) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I was building via rpmbuild, not zypper. Is there a way to tell rpm to ignore recommends too? Thanks! -linda -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Recommends has nothing to do with building. Patch out pcp-pmda-postfix in spec. And you removed all parts of my reply that could make this thread somehow relevant to this list. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Note subtle difference between development of Factory and deveopment on/using Factory ... Regards Martin

Note subtle difference between development of Factory and deveopment on/using Factory ... === There was no development going on...just trying to install the released packages for pcp and noticing the conflicts and problems in doing so.
Being unable to install the package, I then proceeded to try to rebuild it -- and also had problems. Trying to figure out how things were built to get it into the repo in the first place would seem to have some relevancy to this project, no? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
