Check your setup. I've had no problems booting with 3.17.4-1 nor with 3.17.4-2.

re-booted kernel-desktop-3.17.4-1.2.x86_64 which stuck again at " attached scsi generic sg3 type 5 "

next, tried safe-boot of kernel-desktop-3.17.4-1.2.x86_64 : this booted OK

finally, re-tried kernel-desktop-3.17.4-1.2.x86_64 regular boot, which finally obliged.

Ah, that's good. Actually, I have found that occasionally booting first into the Advanced options and then into the 'normal' option clears a problem.
