[opensuse-factory] default kernel and the swap
Hello, I have a pretty annoying problem with 12.1. Looks like a bug. This is with an acer one poulsbo computer. Fresh 12.1 install, from network cd * I can't have the maximum 1366x768 display definition (but only 1024x768) with the desktop kernel, so I installed the default kernel that worked on this respect BUT * with the default kernel the way from kdm login to kde worksplace is extremely long (several minutes). I couls go to a tty and free show that the 2Gb swap is half full, when in desktop kernel it's nearly empty, so may be the problem is excess paging. As I kept the two entries in grup, I can write you here from desktop kernel :-) any idea how I could fix this? never had this problem (none of them) with factory thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
well... the problem may be elsewhere. being swap full, may be this is related with sleep mode. just some minutes before, I had an other serious problem. I had to close the lid of the netbook before switching off, and could not revive the ntbook. I had to *remove the battery* (like on my HP-41 30 years ago!). even the stop button didn't respond. May be this filled the swap I will try and report jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

well. Hibernate works, suspend to ram blocks the system (only on this netbook). 1Gb ram may not be enough? and the slowness of start seems to be random, so no idea why. See later if come again. thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
