This obscures the free object pointer on a per-cache basis making it more difficult to locate kernel objects via exploits probing the cache metadata. This change was requested by the upstream openSUSE community to make the kernel more resistent to slab freelist attacks. Tests conducted by the kernel performance teams confirmed that the performance impact is detectable but negligible. - commit 94938f2 - rpm/constraints.in: lower disk space required for ARM With a requirement of 35GB, only 2 slow workers are usable for ARM. This extends the number of functions which are protected by "stack canary" check to catch functions writing past their stack frame. Hi, Since a few snapshots timidity segfaults (https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1149461). As I understand, a new version has been committed by Takashi Iwai (2019-09-09 20:42:28 UTC). It was not in today's snapshot, and indeed timidity still segfaults. Any Idea which snapshot will contain this new version? No, it's no new version. The fix went into alsa package (disabling LTO), then timidity needs to be rebuilt with the updated libasound2. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

That is, try timidity package in the devel project (OBS multimedia:apps). If this still doesn't work, there can be other issue. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hmm - I downloaded and installed timidity-2.14.0-317.29.x86_64.rpm from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/apps/openSUSE_Tumblewe..., but it still segfaults. Guess I have to waits until in turns up in a TW snapshot. Hi,
Since a few snapshots timidity segfaults (https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1149461).
As I understand, a new version has been committed by Takashi Iwai (2019-09-09 20:42:28 UTC). No, it's no new version. The fix went into alsa package (disabling LTO), then timidity needs to be rebuilt with the updated libasound2. That is, try timidity package in the devel project (OBS multimedia:apps). If this still doesn't work, there can be other issue.

Hmm - I downloaded and installed timidity-2.14.0-317.29.x86_64.rpm from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/apps/openSUSE_Tumblewe..., but it still segfaults.
It seems that the package isn't rebuilt, maybe because alsa is another project... OK, I triggered the rebuild. Check the package again later and retry (and see the package timestamp before downloading). The packages in this project are automatically rebuilt when any dependency has changed.
OK, I triggered the rebuild.

Hm, so something still missing. But I have no time for further debugging (will be traveling for the next few weeks), so anyone else needs to take over the bug. Currently in the conference (also in the last week), and holidays from the next week, indeed :) BTW, I set up again my test packages in OBS home:tiwai:branches:multimedia:apps repo. Try to take alsa and timidity packages (libasound2.rpm and timidity.rpm) from there and check whether they still show the problem, just to be sure. thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

OK, that explains what I totally forgot. In the initial test, I disabled LTO on both alsa and timidity packages, and it did work. At the next test, I tried only LTO-disablement on alsa package only, and this seemed working, but apparently an incorrect test. So I'm building timidity package again with LTO disablement on my home repo above. The build for TW is blocked (unresolved) due to libdevmapper dependency. Once when this is resolved and you get the new package, please give it a try. thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I noticed new versions on your repo page: alsa-1.1.9-306.3.x86_64.rpm, libasound2-1.1.9-306.3.x86_64.rpm, timidity-2.14.0-323.2.x86_64.rpm. Downloaded and installed them, no crashing timidity anymore! Thanks a lot! (Btw, I use timidity in combination with frescobaldi/lilypond, to edit music. So it's rather important in this workflow. Ok, I see, thanks. So my original question should be rephrased to "when will timidity be rebuilt and be part of a TW snapshot?" Jogchum -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
*Presumably* with this snapshot (I had directly dup-ed to 20190917) I can no longer use globally defined shortcuts to control my media player (audacious). I have (since ages) defined Alt+{Down,Right,Left} as global alternatives for Media {Next, Play, Stop} and used those to control audacious from the keyboard. The defines are still there, and audacious wasn't changed (installed July) Just dup-ed to 20190921, still not working :(( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
I'm affected too (only play/pause button isn't working, though); the issue looks like https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-settings-daemon/issues/45 which is told to land 3.34. I've tried to backport the fix for 3.32, but the patch didn't apply cleanly and I've postponed it. On Tue, Sep 24, 2019 at 10:17 PM Peter Suetterlin <pit@astro.su.se> wrote:

No wonder it did not apply, since that commit is already part of the 3.32.1 release that we have in Factory. FWIW, I'm not using gnome, but plasma.
