Hi, we are using the possibility, to let more then one user be loged in localy (multle X sessions in parallel) Wenn one user has firefox running, no one else can start firefox. Is this a desired feature or did nobody think of this at all. -- Joachim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

That shouldn't happen. Different users should be allowed. When I have Firefox running and start another one from an "su Terminal" I get a second instance running. What happens for you? Using su is fine, but switching user in e.g. KDE switch to another user we got problems. There may be another source of the problem, as we are using a cluster of workstations and users can login on two machines at the same time. I just double checked this. If the user is running a firefox from his home dir he cannot start a second firefox on a second system, as all use an empty file ~/.mozilla/firefox/XXXXXX.default/.parentlock. So firefox is not usable on such a cluster? -- Joachim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ah, yes, that's true. A Firefox profile can't be shared between running Firefox sessions. That would result in broken profiles and/or very strange behaviour and is prevented by a profile lock. A user could use different profiles though using the profilemanager. As we have "normal" users: is there a more or less global way, to create different profiles for different machines. As the users do not understnad at all, what is going on (and do not understand, they could mess up a lot). In the profile.ini I do not have anything related to the system I'm on: [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=XXXXXXXX.default Default=1 -- Joachim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
