[opensuse-factory] amdgpu fighting radeon with .20170206 (and earlier?)
Hi With respect to this thread; <https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2017-02/msg00205.html> And a few forum threads; <https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/522843-SUSE-tumbleweed-only-GUI-starts-with-nomodeset> <https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/522644-Will-not-boot-in-Kernel-4-9-5-1-ACPI-Error-flashing-screen-unresponsive?p=2810836#post2810836> From memory back (August?) there was discussion about making a change to detect an amdgpu ready card, I'm guessing this detection is starting to filter though in kernel 4.9.7. On my AMD setup (Mullins R5), all I need to do is blacklist radeon (no xorg.conf required now) for things to work. If I remove the blacklist, radeon and amdgpu start fighting and no GUI just console flashing until X dies and then it's quiet. -- Cheers Malcolm °¿° SUSE Knowledge Partner (Linux Counter #276890) openSUSE Leap 42.1|GNOME 3.16.2|4.1.36-44-default up 2 days 14:15, 4 users, load average: 0.15, 0.22, 0.22 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 635 @ 2.90GHz | GPU Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
