[opensuse-factory] kde "backport"
Hello. Happy new year :-) I just noticed that "Kde Backport" hold the last stable version of DigiKam (1.0). Why is this names "backport"? At first this don't mean anything for me but use of 11.2 package on 10.3 (for example). I simply use the last released 11.2 openSUSE version, so why should I use any "backport"? Is this "backport from factory" ? (I beg so, so why I write here) Couldn't this be named "recent stable packages"? thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The term "backports" has been used for a long time for this repo and is also used and known by other distros - meaning "new stuff built for 'old' distro". Also by using the word "stable", you might confuse people into thinking the packages there are actually officially supported. So I'd say leave as is. Besides this is offtopic here and you should post it to the -kde mailing list. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
