Either the package requires catdoc, then the package is required, or it does not... installing stuff on any system with broken deps is not healthy attitude. 'Recommends' is the easy fix: we can block it out on the live CD without breaking deps, and a standard setup would still get it installed. I see, with "KDE team" you meant the openSUSE KDE team? I thought of the KDE developers and in terms of build requirements. Indeed, I meant to change the requirements for the plasma5 packages in order to install it, so the same as you...
