[opensuse-factory] New sssd desires samba4
This is something to think on for openSUSE 13.2. The 1.10.x series of sssd wants to have the Samba4 header files so it can build its AD integration plugins. (S4/AD cannot be turned off, and that is an sssd bug, but that is not the point -- we surely want to build that plugin anyway.) openSUSE still does not have Samba4 in its package selection, and I am wondering when that might be expected to show up in future Factory. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

4.0.9 is part of Factory since last week IIRC. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

That samba.spec however is not clean enough to satisfy me, or the sssd build process. So here is created request id 197542 Now, don't take too long accepting this one. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks for the submit request. I've made my comment via https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/197542 a) I don't understand why you rename the subpackage samba-devel to samba-core-devel. Fedora uses samba-devel too. b) samba-pkgdeps.diff I like you to push to bugzilla.samba.org as explained in the decline message. c) %defattr(-,root,root,-) vs %defattr(-,root,root)? Is that intentional? Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Someone might expect that samba-devel installs *all* development objects of samba. Since that no longer is the case (they are now in libxxxxxxxx-devel), a rename seemed useful.
b) samba-pkgdeps.diff I like you to push to bugzilla.samba.org as explained in the decline message.

c) %defattr(-,root,root,-) vs %defattr(-,root,root)? Is that intentional?
"-,root,root,-" is a redundant way to write "-,root,root", because the fourth field defaults to "-" (take from file/don't override) anyway. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Stephan, is it possible to get a package change like the one Jan suggested with https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/197542 into openSUSE 13.1? This is a highly welcome cleanup and might make even Steffen Winterfeldt's life from the install system point of view (resulting size due to the library dependencies) a bit easier. He recenly had some trouble with the size of libsmbclient starting with Samba 4.0. @Jan: Thanks a lot for this very well done work! On Fri, Sep 06, 2013 at 06:27:52PM +0200, Jan Engelhardt wrote:

There is still a samba-devel? Well, with my SR, samba-devel is gone. There is however still a set of totally random .h files used by everything, and they have been put into samba-core-devel. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Still you break every package relying on samba and as such it's a nogo? Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Nothing depended on samba-devel in the first place, because that was just introduced two weeks ago. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ah right, the old package is libsmbclient-devel - then we should be fine. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I'm no longer on vacation. ;) Thanks! 'Add or polish the shared library package summaries and descriptions.' is the resulting package change log message. As soon as network:samba:STABLE built for openSUSE 13.1 and Factory I'll file the submit request.
