[opensuse-factory] zypper dup for 20180114 stalls on kernel-devel and kernel-source
When doing zypper dup for this snapshot zypper hangs in checking for conflicts. Only after locking kernel-devel and kernel-source zypper finishes with the other packages. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Did you let it run? Because it's just really really slow. Regards, ismail -- SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg)

I did for several minutes. After a reboot and removing the locks I am trying again. Only these two are left to be upgraded. Running for 5 minutes now; still at 53 % (no progress, except for -/|\). Will wait one hour. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

"kernel-source" is the culprit. If you are not building your own kernel it's not needed. You need to just let it run, 15-30 minutes is not an unreasonable amount of time with kernel-source installed. -- Ken Schneider -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

It can take several hours, is my experience. regards, Jogchum -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Might be true, but there must be a bug somewhere. I solved it by "zypper rm" all kernel-devel and kernel-source packages, which went like a charm, "zypper clean", to remove already downloaded packages, and "zypper in kernel-devel kernel-source", to install. It all was done in just a few minute, if not one minute. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

If kernel-source is participating here, the "check for file conflicts" may be the part of the routine that causes the delay. When there are too many kernel-sources installed, this check takes really long. Werner --
