[opensuse-factory] New packages dog, myxer and treefetch for Factory
Hi! I am announcing three new packages for Factory: - dog, a command-line DNS client, made by the same author of exa. It's currently maintained in network:utilities. https://github.com/ogham/dog - myxer, a modern Volume Mixer for PulseAudio. It's currently maintained in multimedia:apps. https://github.com/VixenUtils/Myxer - treefetch, a lightning-fast system fetch tool made with Rust (although it just calls all the system utilities manually). https://github.com/angelofallars/treefetch Best regards, Danilo Spinella

You're right, I didn't notice it. This package hasn't been updated in 10 years and has currently no maintainer nor it can be found anywhere online (the site is down for me). I'd suggest to drop it, but I don't know if there is anyone still using it. -- Best Regards, Danilo Spinella

I have it installed and have used it but "using" I could not say. and perhaps there is not much needing updated in dog I see: * Fri Apr 08 2011 puzel@novell.com - use spec-cleaner * Wed Jul 04 2007 pgajdos@suse.cz - added Conflits: oneko [#289512] * Wed Jan 25 2006 mls@suse.de - converted neededforbuild to BuildRequires * Wed Oct 05 2005 dmueller@suse.de - add norootforbuild -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc What sort of day was it? The old "dog" package is question worthy anyways. The RPM spec declares ownership of wildcard bin- and mandirs. https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/utilities/dog/dog.spec `%{_bindir}/*` `%doc %{_mandir}/man1/*` I would recommend against using it on a production system. Your claim is wrong, it packages all files inside the mentioned paths, inside the buildroot. There is a difference between "%{_bindir}" and "%{_bindir}/*". While some packages use less generic globs, or no globs at all, this is a quite common pattern, and definitely correct. There exists a CLI command named "dog", which is an improved version of "cat". -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.2 (Legolas))
