I think you are looking the wrong package, see sqlite3 one instead.

I have to install the milestone again, because the new kernel (that does not boot) was installed. I saw that default sqlite(2) is installed and sqlite3 default not. I think the default would be better the other way around (as in 11.1). Also why would anyone want to install sqlite(2), that is almost 4 years old? Good catch! that one is actually wrong... f-spot uses sqlite3 !

A: Many misbehaviors of F-Spot can be headed to database problems. F-Spot uses a Sqlite db, usually placed in ~/.gnome2/f-spot/photos.db. Since latest releases (> 0.3.5) there have been problems with version 2 of the db, so v3 is required.

I suggest to drop sqlite-2.x and rename sqlite3 -> sqlite

Any reason to not keep sqlite-2.x as sqlite2? We can then either rename sqlite3 to sqlite, or make sqlite3 provide sqlite.
