[opensuse-factory] Samba 3.0.28a and the ability to support Windows Server 2008 AD joining

Hi , We are struggling at work with joining AD 2008 with openSUSE 10.3 clients. During the process we have seen that this is a bug in Samba that is fixed in the Samba 3.0.28a release, released the 8th of March. Checking in on factory I noticed that it is the 3.0.28 packagaes that is in. Would it be possible to upgrade these packages to the latest official Samba release? http://packages.opensuse-community.org/index.jsp?distro=SUSE_Factory&searchT... http://news.samba.org/releases/samba_3_0_28a_download/ Would it also be possible to add the packages for 3.0.28a for SLES 10.1 and openSUSE10.3 at http://en.opensuse.org/Samba ? (Or a build service repository?) Currently we are a bit afraid that we will get in to trouble with a SLES 10.1 fileserver we have :-) But our major problem is that we use openSUSE 10.3 for some dev teams and they can't join new machines to the upgraded AD infrastructure. We are more than happy to test the packages! This fix is already part of the current 3.0.28 packages. Hm. Migh only be in factory and not on ftp.suse.com. Ping us again if this isn't addressed till the end of this week.
The update to 3.0.28a is in work. 3.2.0 is expected to be release in about the next four weeks. Therefore the Novell Samba Team soon moves to the latest pre or rc release.
We'll soon see 3.0.28a packages and 3.2.0 pre and rc in http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/samba/pre/ And packages made from the OBS are on our TODO as well.
Thanks! But help on the Samba OBS stuff would be useful as well. And is highly appreciated. This allows any of you to get a higher quality out of SUSE and Samba while we're able to increase the upstream quality as well. Even contribution and feedback to the quoted http://en.opensuse.org/Sambahttp://en.opensuse.org/Samba and the http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/Samba page is higly appreciated. Hi, I now see the 3.028a packages in the ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/samba/3.0/ directory. How do you want us to test it? You mentioned OBS , but there are no packages there yet. We have already loaded the packages on a openSUSE10.3 laptop and done a "net join" from the command line. After 5 minutes of use it seems ok :-) We will try to write a few words on the SAMBA pages in the wiki when we have c ompleted the testing. http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/Samba has already some pieces regarding testing. The goal is to use smbtorture of Samba 4 for regression testing. Each new Samba packages has to pass the same tests as the previous version. That's in mind since quite some time.
You mentioned OBS , but there are no packages there yet.
That's on our todo. We're not sure yet regarding this. Currently we have packages for all maintained SUSE Linux products and architectures. But OBS only provides a subset of these. PPC and s390 stuff is missing for example. We also have to integrate OBS with our current subversion driven packaging approach. There speccreate[1] is utilized to generate all spec files from a common 'meta' spec file. This was required due to the formerly missing BuildRequires. But first we need packages of 3.2.0 pre 2.
Please keep bugzilla busy.

As soon as it makes sense we split of a http://en.opensuse.org/Testing/Samba as Andreas did for Bugs. Or did you had something different additions in mind?
