Are there any X specialists that read this list? On my system, nouveau does not work, I refuse to use the proprietary Nvidia driver, and my resolution is greater than 1024x768, which is the maximum that the frame-buffer driver can handle. Thus I need to use nv, the 2D accelerator. My problem is described in Bug #770560. On 12.1, my 50-device.conf uses driver nv, I can set 1280x800 in the other configuration files, and I get what I want. On 12.2, whenever I try to load nv, Xorg crashes with a seg fault (NULL dereference) in libpthread.so. I found articles on the web that tell you how to debug Xorg crashes, but I don't know how to extend them to the case where Xorg does not start. I need help on this part. Initially, I thought this was just a minor annoyance with 12.2, but I have changed my mind. This is a problem that should be addressed before 12.2 GM.
