[opensuse-factory] factory iso images failing in VB
I have setup a vb on my workstation to test factory/12.3. I downloaded factory iso NET images 26 and 27 and neither will complete the boot process. The graphic screen changes to partially black with boot messages and freezes. Booting the 12.2 (x86_64) NET install iso works and, after install, changing repos to factory oss and non-oss and performing zypper dup works. I trashed first 12.2 to factory effort and am presently reinstalling. After completion will snapshot failed NET-27 effort and make available. Is the boot failure of factory NET iso's common or do I have a probem particular to my system? Is more information needed first? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Your failure looks exactly like the one obtained on openQA with a KVM VM (http://openqa.opensuse.org/viewimg/openqa/testresults/openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Bu...). Something is wrong with libidn.so.11. Are you also using btrfs with encrypted LVM? Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

yes, it does :^) :^(

btrfs/LVM but not encrypted next? tks -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

next? tks
actually, it has nothing to do with btrfs, as it happens before start of install - e.g. in http://openqa.opensuse.org/viewimg/openqa/testresults/openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Bu... I wonder if libidn is in inst-sys at all. Perhaps a littly hasty here and taking elderly memory into account! I get the frozen screen when trying to *initiate* the install from NET iso before having the choice of configuration. So btrfs/LVM are not *yet* involved. Installing 12.2 from NET iso and immediately disabling 12.2 repo and adding factory oss/non-oss, zypper dup has a lot of conflicts and choosing to retain installed instances results in a very small video display, ie: useless. Guess I am not amoung chosen to test factory :^( I will try the next NET iso when it is presented. The previous gave same result (26). or, is there another option? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Installed successfully build 34 this am.
