[opensuse-factory] msg: Loading from local disk ... While the system go to 1st boot after installing Tumbleweed 20150519 from DVD
Hello, My system is a Pentium D 830 computer with 1000 GB Harddisk. The partion setup is (after installing Tumblewweed): /dev/sda sda1 1 gb swap swap sda2 40 gb / ext4 openSUSE 13.2 sda3 20 gb /home ext4 sda4 900 gb Extended sda5 30 gb / ext4 Tumbleweed 20150509 sda6 15 gb /home ext4 sda7 800 gb /data ext4 During the install I canged the boot partion from root partition to the extended partiton, since the / partion of tumbleweed is on the extended part of the harddisk. The install went normal. The system shutdown for the 1st reboot. It started again the Tumbleweed DVD and I pressed enter on the boot from harddisk menu entry. The system presented the msg Loading from local disk ... and that was all, while I expected to reach the GRUB2 menu What is wrong with this setup Regards / Groeten, Frans -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Are you sure you changed and not added additional bootloader location? /etc/default/grub_installdevice from TW would be interesting. Together with result of bootinfoscript: https://github.com/arvidjaar/bootinfoscript/raw/master/bootinfoscript

I tried it a second time and carefully looked that I not added but changed the boot location but the result looked the same. I think that the limited boot sectors from the BIOS on my old PC cause the trubbles. I am now trying to use a seperate 500MB /boot partition. I do not know how to set during the 2nd install the grub2 boot parameters and whether the /boot partition should formatted or not during the 2nd install -- Regards / Groeten, Frans -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
