[opensuse-factory] Can't config a printer via Yast
Trying to set up a network (SMB) printer via Yast, using the latest factory packages... I can configure the settings, Yast confirms the connection to my SMB printer is valid when I click the button (in subsequent testing I even garbled the name of the SMB printer and my login credentials, just to see if it was actually testing, and it reported an error in both cases, so I know that it is communicating with my networked system), I proceed to the next screen and set things like the printer driver etc., but upon clicking Next, it returns me to the main screen, without my printer queue showing. I can do this a dozen times in a row. No error message or dialog displays, I just have no printer available. Could be that I'm being obtuse and overlooking something when configing, but regardless, just dumping me back to the initial screen without an error message or dialog is either a bug, or bad design. And since KDE 4.x lacks a printer config, I have no way of setting up my printer. FWIW, had no issues with network printing in 10.3, in that I know my printer is supported and I was able to print through the same SMB system via the network. Am I missing something, or is this a known issue...? Thanks in advance for any pointers or advice... If the workflow does not work for you, please, file a bug to bzilla. As workaround, you can configure CUPS queue via web interface - just type http://localhost:631 to your browser. I'm not sure, but by default credentials are taken from /etc/shadow. Jiri Dne Monday 19 of May 2008 06:10:56 Kevin Valko napsal(a):

Hi. It's smb printer issue? Then it sounds like a duplicate of https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386934 Regards, Klaus. Jiri Srain wrote:
