[opensuse-factory] Banshee-1 failing to build in factory or Tumbleweed or openSUSE 11.4

Hi, Something's happened recently to keep banshee-1 from building properly in openSUSE 11.4 or Tumbleweed or Factory. Any hints as to what went wrong and how to fix it? I'm looking at the Banshee project for this, should I be looking somewhere else for updated versions of Banshee to link into Tumbleweed instead? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Greg, at least in Factory, banshee-1 was renamed to banshee and builds fine: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=banshee&project=openSUSE %3AFactory The current devel project for banshee is GNOME:Apps (as we lost a good part of the mono team lately). Hm, should someone delete the Banshee repo then, so we don't get "fooled" by it anymore? :) I'll go update Tumbleweed to point to the correct packages, thanks for the information. greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Hm, no, I can't do that as banshee only seems to be able to built for openSUSE:Factory, not any other repo (not even openSUSE:11.4 + Gnome Stable 3.0). Can someone fix that first? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Banshee has been updated to 2.1.0, which has dependencies to packages that are not available in openSUSE 11.4 or even openSUSE 11.4+GNOME 3.0, that's why there are 'expansion errors' in those repos. The expansion errors there are currently: pkgconfig(dbus-sharp-1.0) and pkgconfig(dbus-sharp-glib-1.0) pkgconfig(dbus-sharp-1.0) dbus-sharp pkgconfig(dbus-sharp-glib-1.0) dbus-sharp-glib Both of those packages live in Mono:Factory Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ok, I'll not update banshee in Tumbleweed then, it will have to stay at its current level :( thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Looking at the build failure, I would guess that the change is an updated libgpod-sharp in Tumbleweed, which broke building banshee. This trivial patch from GNOME:Apps/banshee is likely to also work on 2.0.1 as is currently in Tumbleweed. (not sure you want to go 2.1.x there) Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I guess that would be https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=banshee-recent-gpod.patch&... As Dominique mentioned earlier, banshee 2.1.x now depends on relatively new things, and dropped support for old technologies. I'm unsure if it can build on Tumbleweed (I'd guess it should be doable, though, as 11.4 is not that old). If you want me to investigate further, I can check.
