I get that if I boot with systemd. In normal boot (what used to be normal) it is working. OTOH I'm running the Oracle version, where I run the VBoxLinuxAdditions.run. But the error is exactly the same. Well, Oracle should provide a way to do the same as /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup with a non initscript way (or do it during "start" option). I suggest filling a bug on their bug tracker. If you start an LSB initscript under systemd, the call is forwarded to systemctl and "setup" isn't a valid command for systemctl. -- Frederic Crozat <fcrozat@suse.com> SUSE -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The OP gets this error by running /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup I get it with Oracle's script. Now this is new since systemd, I get also many other different errors in different situations which otoh work fine with normal boot. I have filed a couple of bug reports, not on this one yet. The funny thing is that once you run the script in normal boot and then reboot with systemd the virtualbox additions work. Exactly the same setup here, but when it tries to build the module it hits the same "Unknown option setup". Perhaps systemd switch over is a bit premature to say the least. apache2.service loaded failed failed LSB: Apache 2.2 HTTP Server apparmor.service loaded failed failed LSB: AppArmor initialization NetworkManager.service loaded failed failed Network Manager dev-sda3.swap loaded failed failed /dev/sda3 "rcapache2 start" just hangs and does nothing. "/usr/sbin/httpd2-prefork -f /etc/apache2/httpd.conf" works and spawns the normal 6 processes. I have opened a new topic on the virtualbox forum. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... Or openSUSE uses similar to Debian, Ubuntu and most likely other distributions a module-assistant, DKMS and similar which compiles external modules from source against the current Kernel after installation, and don't ship precompiled external modules. That would also make installing a different Kernel much easier.
