[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2016/3
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, As the ones amongst you closely following Tumbleweed have seen without doubt, one of the snapshots was much larger this week than what is perceived normal. This is due to a human error, which triggered a full rebuild from the base stack up. Actually, not so many packages have had seen changes. On the other hand, though, I will have to slow down Tumbleweed checkins a bit, as OBS all repos building against openSUSE:Tumbleweed now got a much larger base to rebuild against, which in turn means OBS is way more busy than it normally already is. Our sincerest apologies for this. Of course we will try to deliver important updates as fast as we can. Let’s still look what changed in the snapshots that were released this week (0115, 0116, 0117, 0120 and 0121): * Plasma 5.5.3 * KDE Framework 5.18.0 * Quite some YaST updates, mostly around AutoYaST profile validation * Libproxy 0.4.12 – Finally the crashes in Qt5 based apps are solved What you can expect in the next snapshot: * KDE Applications 15.12.1 (will be in any snapshot >= 0123) * KDEPIM 4 is replaced as default with KDEPIM 5 (also in snapshot >= 0123); See the announcement[0] made by the KDE Team on this topic And things that are in stagin areas: * systemd/udev 228: (still pending on boo#960669[1]) * gcc 5.3.1: YaST is the blocking factor, as it fails to build due to the use of deprecated auto_ptr * python 3.5.1 has been submitted * Kernel fix that fixes boot from USB again (something not caught by openQA) None of the larger projects appear to be close to resolution anytime soon – which, on one hand, is a good thing, as it allows us to slow down Tumbleweed until OBS catches up without having a bad conscious. Have a great weekend!
