[opensuse-factory] What should I expect from KDE @ Leap atm?
Just wondering where we are at? I have just installed a new 42.1-Current and see e.g. kmix, kded5 and kdeinit segfault when I log in. I reproduce this also in Tumbleweed :( Work around: * login as root in F2 (virtual console) * run: systemctl restart sddm.service * login in F7 -- Friendly openSUSE Community -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hmm, didn't work for me - according to systemctl status, sddm is disabled and not running. When I restart it, I appear to end up with two login screens - the time display flickers between one with seconds and one without. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.2°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Nah, just one card, one screen (for now). I am not sure, but AFAICT the first sddm is not actually being started by systemd, and therefore "systemctl restart sddm" will probably only start a second copy. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (4.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Nah, just one card, one screen (for now).
Correction - in fact two devices on one card: 42:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [Quadro NVS 440] (rev a2) 43:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [Quadro NVS 440] (rev a2) Each has up to two monitors. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (5.0°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

That's not what I was referring to, I meant an Intel/NVIDIA. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. Knurpht Official openSUSE Member openSUSE Forums Team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

On openSUSE sddm.service is not being used AFAIK. But display-manager.service does, AFAICT that's what's starting sddm on openSUSE. Could you try whether restarting display-manager.service does work around the issue? -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. This work-around does the trick: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=950487#c12 -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.9°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yeah, we see that in openQA too unfortunately - and what these programs all have in common is a relation to pulseaudio, which was just updated. So I think there is some pulseaudio bug to be fixed - so please report it ;( Greetings, Stephan -- Ma muaß weiterkämpfen, kämpfen bis zum Umfalln, a wenn die ganze Welt an Arsch offen hat, oder grad deswegn. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
